According to this article, NASA announced the liquid water on Mars increase and as a result may develop small organisms on the planet's surface. One proposal is to find extremophiles, rocks trying to get even a very difficult target to meet. It is planned to send robots taking into account that they can not carry terrestrial microorganisms to not alter the ecosystem of the planet.
In my opinion, Ibelieve this project will help us to understand more about the universe, life on Earth and our origins and evolution.
